Brian James Griffith
A musician and visual artist living in Los Angeles. His work blends analog with digital; subtle movements with bold features; and virtual with physical reality.
Musically, Brian creates evolving atmospheres that often explore the sonic capabilities of the bass guitar extending it well beyond the lower register, as an effort towards singularity between the mind and instrument.
His visual art compliments the meditative qualities of his music by creating synthesized video environments and hypnotic animations that encourage mindful investigation.
The spontaneous nature of his process attempts to connect fully to the invisible fabric of reality.

You Are The Prism, Through Which The Universe Shines
⌘ALTAR is a Net Art series that I worked on as part of The Current Sea, the creative studio that Sarah Zucker and I founded. The series combines animated GIF, photography, sound and net art to produce a truely unique experience.

For You Are the Prism we wanted a spacey, futuristic feeling that still felt organic. The idea that we're celebrating ourselves in a (virtual) universe that we created and curated is a running theme in this peice.
The musical compositions are designed for and inspired by Internet. Each track is short and inteded to loop continuiously in conjuntion with a particular image. In the case of You Are the Prism, the still images funtion as Play Buttons which trigger the loops, while simultaniously animating the previously-static picture.
